Takapuna Boating Club closed at Alert Level 3

Saturday 27 Feb 2021, 11pm

As per tonight's Government announcement that Auckland will be entering Covid Level 3 lockdown at 6am tomorrow (Sunday 28 February), Takapuna Boating Club will be enacting our level 3 protocol at this time.

What does this mean for Takapuna Boating Club?
Takapuna Boating Club will be closed during level 3. There will be no access to club facilities by members, including the storage basement, during this time.
If you wish to remove your equipment from the basement, you have until midday Sunday to do so.

Club activities planned for tomorrow and this coming week, including the Waterbourne regatta and all paddling classes will not be going ahead.

Can we do water sports?
The following water-based activities are allowed under level 3:

  • Swimming
  • Surfing
  • Kayaking
  • Canoeing
  • Rowing
  • Windsurfing
  • paddle boarding

These activities must by done alone or within your bubble and must be low risk. Stay close to shore, be realistic about your competency and stay well within your limits. Keep it local- go to your nearest beach, not your favorite one.

Please do not do activities you have not tried before or are inexperienced in.

The most important principle here is to stay safe (so that you do not need rescuing or medical care), and to stay physically distant from people outside of your bubble.

The following activities are not allowed: Boating, sailing and jet skis.

So for those of you that are able to, get out on the water safely and enjoy it! Stay safe, stay local.
See you all back at the club again as soon as we can.

Keep up to date via newsletters, our website and our Facebook page to ensure you are aware of the operational status of the club and events.
