NB: The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule in the Sailing Instructions means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification.


1          RULES

1.1         The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.


1.2       Yachting New Zealand Prescriptions 2017-2020 shall apply.           


1.3       The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply. Life Jackets must be worn.


1.4       All competitors will be required to carry means of visual communication. Smoke flares are recommended.


1.5       The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located at 39 The Strand Takapuna.


2          ADVERTISING


2.1       Competitor advertising will be restricted as follows:

            There shall be no advertising that conflicts with the event’s sponsors.




3.1         The regatta is open to all boats of the Foiling and Skiff class(es).


3.2       Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, to by 5pm on 24 April 2018.

3.3       Late entries will be accepted under the following conditions: Payment of $60.00 late entry fee subject to fleet numbers.


3.4         The following restrictions on the number of boats apply: The event is open to a maximum of 40 entries. First come: first served.


3.6       Each competitor, entrant and crew members shall be capable of sailing the course in under three hours.

3.7       To demonstrate their competence, each Competitor shall have competed in a National or Regional championship or previously completed the course. The organising committee reserves the right to refuse entry or impose additional safety requirements on any competitor it considers unlikely to complete the course.


4          FEES

4.1       Required fees are as follows: $45.00


5          SCHEDULE


5.3         Dates of racing:




28th April 2019

All classes


5.4       Number of races: There will be one race. 28th April is a reserve day.


5.5       The scheduled time of the warning signal for the race is 13.00



The sailing instructions will be available after 5pm on 24 April at 39 The Strand Takpauna.


7          VENUE

7.1       Attachment A shows the location of the regatta venue.

7.2       Attachment B shows the location of the racing areas.


8          THE COURSE

All entrants shall start from a line between the signal boat and a laid mark approx. 1nm NE of the Takapuna Boating Club Clubhouse rounding Rangitoto and Motutapu islands in an anticlockwise direction and finish between the signal boat and the same laid mark.



9.1       For all class(es) RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.



Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. [DP]


11        INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.



Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
