2019 Nacra 15 New Zealand Championships

15th to 17th March 2019

The Organising Authority is Takapuna Boating Club, 39 The Strand, Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand




NB: The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule in the Notice of Race means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification.


1                   RULES

1.1             The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.



1.2             The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.



1.3             The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located at the middle floor of the Takapuna Boating Club.



1.4             Appendix T, Arbitration, will apply.



2                   ADVERTISING


2.1             Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority. If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [DP]


3                   ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY


3.1             The regatta is open to all boats of the Nacra 15 class(es).


3.2             Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee, to Takapuna Boating Club by 13th March 2019


3.3             Late entries will be accepted under the following conditions: Payment of a late entry fee of $50.00.


3.4             To be eligible to compete in this event each entrant and crew member shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the entrant and crew member’s national authority.


Proof of affiliated club membership to be presented at registration



3.5             Each competitor, entrant and crew members shall be members of their class association


4                   FEES

4.1             Required fees are as follows:

5                   SCHEDULE

5.1             Registration: between 08.00 and 10.00 on 14th March 2019.

5.3             Number of races:

5.4             The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on the 15th March is 12.00 and on the 16th and 17 March is 13.00.


5.5             On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 15.00.


6                   MEASUREMENT

6.1             Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate.



6.2             A boat shall comply with RRS 78.1.


7                   SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available after 08.00 on 14 March 2019 at Takapuna boating Club.


8                   VENUE

8.1             Attachment A shows the location of the regatta venue.



8.2             Attachment B shows the location of the racing areas.



9                   THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed will be as follows: Windward/leeward.



10               PENALTY SYSTEM


10.1         For the Nacra 15 class RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.



11               SCORING



11.1         Five (5) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.




a)         When fewer than six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.


b)         When six to eleven races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.


c)         When twelve or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.



12               SUPPORT BOATS

Support boats shall be marked. [DP]



13               RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. [DP]


14               PRIZES

Prizes will be given as follows: First, Second and Third place getters may receive prizes.



15               INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid marine third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 per incident or the equivalent. Certificate of insurance is to be [submitted with entry] [presented at registration]



Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
